One Saturday afternoon a few months back, four girlfriends got together for cocktails and catch-up about life, love and fashion. Very Sex and The City, without the sex.
Conversation flowed. We chatted non-stop about our passions and past-times, our successes and our do-overs. About men and children. [The same? Or different? Discuss.] About our careers [Do less, earn more: An urban myth?] About our love of food and our love of clothes shopping.
That latter topic dominated. We lamented the need to manage our expanding waistlines and our expanding closets. By the time the afternoon turned into evening and the snack platters were all empty, we vowed to help each other clean out our closets and pare down our wardrobes.
Weeks passed, we got to work, and a funny thing happened: It was fun! We found in each others’ closets a treasure trove of fashion goodies. Goodwill: 50%. Good friends: the other half.
A light bulb went off – who among us does not have these same dilemmas:
Yesterday’s skinny jeans that are today’s fat chance?
One-night stands with wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses and evening gowns?
What-was-I-thinking impulse purchases that never saw the light of day?
Suits that don’t? Zippers that won’t?
We experienced a collective aha moment – and New2Me was born. Recycled Fashion. An online mecca where budget-conscious meets fashion-conscious. And we’re making it work.
So take a few moments to browse our one-of-a-kind items. Find yourself a unique new2me. Then go examine the depths of your own closet. Organization gurus tell us that for every item of clothing you bring into your closet, you must part with another... we’ll be waiting for your call.
The New2Me team would like to acknowledge and wholeheartedly thank Robin Hazell and Ella Doidge for their valued assistance with the development of our site: Robin for her styling panache and Ella for her skilled and stylish photography. We would be delighted to recommend their professional services for any related projects; they can be reached through us at contact@new2me.ca. Thank you, ladies!
